Marc Seidel

Principal Engineer at Siemens Gamesa

About

Dr. Marc Seidel has been working in the wind energy sector since 1996. He began his career as a researcher at the Leibniz University of Hannover before transitioning into the wind industry as a design engineer. He has worked for major wind energy companies, including Repower Systems and his current employer, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, where he serves as a Principal Engineer for Support Structures. Dr. Seidel specializes in the structural design and load simulations of wind turbines. His practical work covers a wide array of support structures—including offshore monopiles, jackets, and gravity base foundations. He has designed these structures for highly diverse offshore environments, ranging from extremely shallow waters to depths of up to 50 meters. His expertise heavily involves analyzing how external forces (wind, water waves, and ice) interact with the heavy rotating machinery of wind turbines. Beyond his direct design and research work, Dr. Seidel actively shapes the rules and regulations of the global wind industry. He is a member of several national and international standardization committees.
