Eugenio Plano Morillo

Eugenio is a senior engineering leader specializing in the optimization, validation, and control system design of utility-scale onshore wind turbines. With extensive experience driving R&D for multi-megawatt turbine platforms (including the 5.X MW class), he bridges the gap between complex aerodynamic challenges and highly reliable software-driven mechanical controls. Currently leading an Optimization and Validation Module Team, Eugenio oversees a department of more than 30 control engineers. His technical expertise spans the entire lifecycle of advanced turbine controls—from preliminary design and model-based loads control to grid code compliance and field support. Beyond his deep technical acumen in sensors, actuators, and extreme loads mitigation, Eugenio is a strategic people manager. He is responsible for executing rigorous technological roadmaps, ensuring departmental development capacity, and aligning his team's output with the long-term sustainability and operational excellence goals of the fleet.
